Information we collect
PlateAI does not collect or store personal or sensitive data on our own servers. The App does, however, integrate with a small set of third-party services to provide food analysis, crash reporting, advertising, and subscription management:
Device permissions
The App requests access to your device's camera so you can photograph food items. These photos are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis; PlateAI itself does not retain a copy of your images after that request completes.
How data is used
While PlateAI does not maintain its own user database, the third-party services above process data on our behalf:
- OpenAI processes submitted photos or descriptions to return food analysis results.
- AdMob uses device and usage signals to serve personalized or generic ads.
- Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and diagnostic data to improve app stability.
- RevenueCat manages subscription state and purchase history tied to your App Store account.
No personal information is stored by PlateAI beyond what's required for these integrations to function, and nothing is shared without anonymization where technically possible.
Data sharing
We may share limited, anonymized data with:
- OpenAI — to process food analysis requests. No user-identifiable data is included in these requests.
- Google AdMob — to display in-app advertisements.
- Firebase Crashlytics — to diagnose and resolve crashes.
- RevenueCat — to process and manage subscriptions.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with any party outside of the integrations listed in this policy.
Data storage and security
Data generated by your use of the App remains on your device, with the exception of the photos or descriptions sent to OpenAI for analysis at the moment you request it. Transmissions to our third-party partners are encrypted in transit.
Regional compliance
We aim to comply with applicable data protection regulations, including:
Users in the EU may request access to, correction of, or deletion of data processed through our third-party services by contacting us below.
California residents may opt out of third-party data processing by contacting us or adjusting the relevant settings within those third-party services.
